Drop charges or we’ll hold vehicle rally on Oct 27: Marathas to CM
MUMBAI: A faction of Maratha outfits have declared that they will organise a vehicle rally outside the Mantralaya (state headquarters) on October 27 if chief minister Devendra Fadnavis fails to keep his promise of withdrawing cases registered against youths from the community for participating in agitations in July and August. The agitations were organised in a bid to demand 16% reservation in government jobs and education. Ankush Kadam, state coordinator from Navi Mumbai, said police have been harassing youths from the community since the protests turned violent. Thousands have been booked without verifying whether they were actually involved in the violence.
“Fadnavis had assured us the cases will be withdrawn. If he fails to keep his promise by October 26, then we will carry out a vehicle rally at the Mantralaya on October 27,” he said.
