Getting under the skin of a character is a requisite for actors, which inevitably causes many to take it too seriously. And when actor Sharad Kelkar had to get into the character of a villain in his next film, Bhoomi (starring Sanjay Dutt), he went a bit too far. According to a source, Sharad’s character smokes in the film, and while shooting for one of the intense scenes, he ended up smoking four packets. That was too much for the actor and he ended up falling sick the next morning.

A source says, “Sharad was unwell and had to be rushed to the doctor in Agra (UP), where they were shooting. He was asked to stop smoking, but as he had to continue the shoot, he fulfilled his commitment until the schedule ended. Later, he went on a strict detox diet of vegetables and raw fruit juice. He doubled his water intake and started having green tea, coconut water and vegetable juices. He also started doing cardio and jogging.”

Sharad says, “Smoking is very injurious to health and I had to smoke 80 cigarettes a day for the film. I always tend to give my 100%, but now I am cleansing my system.”
