‘New show not a sequel to Pehredaar Piya Ki’
The TV show Pehredaar Piya Ki went off-air after a viewer filed a petition to ban the show due to its regressive content. Now, the makers of the show are all set to replace it with a brand new show. Interestingly, most of the cast of the new show will be retained, except for child actor Affan Khan, who essayed the role of nine-yearold Ratan Maan Singh.
Actor Tejasswi Prakash, who played the character of Diya Ratan Singh in the show, has bagged the lead role of a modern woman in the upcoming fiction. She is happy with the new development. “This is a completely new show and it’s not a sequel [to Pehredaar Piya Ki]. It’s a love story. We ended Pehredaar Piya Ki abruptly, so we wanted something [as good] to take its place,” Tejasswi says.
Speaking about working with the same cast, Tejasswi says, “Our show was number one on the channel till the time it was on air. Even the BCCC [Broadcasting Content Complaints Council] allowed us to run the show on a different time slot, which only proved that the show wasn’t anything that people complained about.”
She adds that since there was too much controversy around the show, there was no point in persisting with it. Thus, everyone associated with the show “mutually agreed” to take it off-air.
