Ali Abbas Zafar’s new journey
Ali Abbas Zafar has been on a dream run of sorts since his directorial debut, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), with films such as Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) to his name. Now, the director is set to start a new journey — we have exclusively learnt that filmmaker Aditya Chopra has decided to have Ali produce films under his home production banner.
A source familiar with the matter says, “Yes, the news is true. Adi (Chopra) is handpicking his core creative team based on the specific content strengths of his directors. That’s why, after Maneesh Sharma, Ali will also be a producer in Adi’s company. As a director, Ali is on a high with two back-to-back ₹300-crore blockbusters. His sensibilities are very different from those of Maneesh’s, and Adi wants to explore that USP.”
When contacted, Ali confirmed the news, saying, “It is true. Adi’s banner has been my home and I’m overwhelmed that I will start a new journey now. As soon as I finish Bharat, I will start on my new role of producing content as per my sensibilities. Adi wants me to stay true to my strengths. Along with

producing films, I will also start working on my next directorial with the company.”
Ali’s next, Bharat, will see him teaming up once more with Salman. They worked together in Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
