Ali Ab­bas Za­far’s new jour­ney

Ali Ab­bas Za­far has been on a dream run of sorts since his di­rec­to­rial de­but, Mere Brother Ki Dul­han (2011), with films such as Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) to his name. Now, the di­rec­tor is set to start a new jour­ney — we have ex­clu­sively learnt that film­maker Aditya Cho­pra has de­cided to have Ali pro­duce films un­der his home pro­duc­tion ban­ner.

A source fa­mil­iar with the mat­ter says, “Yes, the news is true. Adi (Cho­pra) is hand­pick­ing his core cre­ative team based on the spe­cific con­tent strengths of his di­rec­tors. That’s why, af­ter Ma­neesh Sharma, Ali will also be a pro­ducer in Adi’s com­pany. As a di­rec­tor, Ali is on a high with two back-to-back ₹300-crore block­busters. His sen­si­bil­i­ties are very dif­fer­ent from those of Ma­neesh’s, and Adi wants to ex­plore that USP.”

When con­tacted, Ali con­firmed the news, say­ing, “It is true. Adi’s ban­ner has been my home and I’m over­whelmed that I will start a new jour­ney now. As soon as I fin­ish Bharat, I will start on my new role of pro­duc­ing con­tent as per my sen­si­bil­i­ties. Adi wants me to stay true to my strengths. Along with

pro­duc­ing films, I will also start work­ing on my next di­rec­to­rial with the com­pany.”

Ali’s next, Bharat, will see him team­ing up once more with Sal­man. They worked to­gether in Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
