‘Tax ex­emp­tion lets peo­ple en­joy films’

Af­ter the gov­ern­ment of Ra­jasthan gave the film Hindi Medium a tax-free sta­tus, di­rec­tor Saket Chaud­hary (left) says that he is glad this step will en­able more peo­ple to watch it.

“Hindi Medium has touched and en­ter­tained so Bhosle many peo­ple and this tax-free sta­tus is a chance for a lot more peo­ple to en­joy the film again,” said Chaud­hary in a state­ment.

The movie had al­ready got tax ex­emp­tion in states such as Ma­ha­rash­tra, Gu­jarat, Mad­hya Pradesh and Delhi. And now that it has been made tax-free in lead ac­tor Ir­rfan’s home state, this makes it more spe­cial for the team.

The film, which also fea­tures Saba Qa­mar, grew in pop­u­lar­ity on word of mouth, gen­er­at­ing a profit for the mak­ers, who had made it on a bud­get of `22 crore.
