GIVE THAT BLOUSE SOME ATTENTION
Retro-style blouse, crop top or sheer cape — top your sari right for festivities
From a humble accompaniment of the sari to a statement piece that makes your draped look stand out, blouses have come a long way. Adding a dose of quirk and modernity to sari ethics, one can replace classic blouses with crop tops, capes, billowy shirts and what not!
“Blouses have become more contemporary and the focus is now more on the silhouette than the bust,” says designer Nikhil Mehra.
Besides runways, Bollywood movies, too, exhibit the latest trends, and fashionistas swear by them. “From Nargis’s collared blouse in the ’50s to Madhuri Dixit’s conical blouse in the ’90s, women have taken inspiration from these divas,” says designer Nida Mahmood.
