An aarti, vermillion powder on foreheads, and prasad — no, we aren’t talking about a religious event, but the hugely popular Damdami Mai Puja or the Virgin Tree Puja, a Valentine’s Day ritual at DU’s Hindu College. This year’s puja was a grander affair, as it saw

the introduction of a new category for the ‘hopeful’ girls — the handsome Love Guru.

As students chanted ‘Jai ho Damdami Mai ki!” the puja began. The famed tree was decorated with posters of actors Jacqueline Fernandez (this year’s Damdami Mai) and Ranveer Singh (Love Guru).

“I’m so glad to be a part of this iconic moment. I couldn’t have missed this at any cost,” said Rishab Singh, a student.

Actor-filmmaker Nalin Singh, chief guest, said, “It felt like I was paying back for all the love I got when I was in Hindu. We might also screen my film, My Virgin Diary.”
