When Swan Lake dazzled Mumbai

The most awaited offering of Navrasa Duende ,a leading Indian production house, Swan Lake kicked off its multi-city tour in Mumbai. Co-produced with Royal Russian Ballet, the ballet saw a grand opening week.

The month-long tour concludes on 14 April. 25 shows of the ballet are scheduled to be performed in Mumbai, followed by five shows each in Ahmedabad, New Delhi, and Kolkata. Sharing his enthusiasm about completing the week successful­ly, Dinesh Singh, founder and CEO, Navrasa Duende said, “The first leg of the multi-city tour in Mumbai has been very encouragin­g, we are quite confident that the response in the other cities will also be phenomenal.”

The production of Swan Lake, comprising 45 artists from Royal Russian Ballet, has been choreograp­hed by Vladmir Troschenko, and directed by Anatoly Kazatsky, both veteran ballet artists.

The shows were attended by celebritie­s such as industrali­sts Adi Godrej, Nadir Godrej, filmmaker Farah Khan, actors Dia Mirza, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kapur, Kim Sharma, Maria Goretti, Shruti Seth, columnists Shobhaa De, Anil Dharker, lyricist Swanand Kirkire, and music director Shantanu Moitra. The show turned out to be a perfect family entertaine­r with the audience ranging from 6 to 96 years.

Swan Lake was originally composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsk­y, a Russian composer in 1875–76, and his works are notable for their melodic inspiratio­n.
