Delhi has an insane level of pollution. People should be walking around with trees in their hands instead of phones, and not chop 17,000 trees! We ought to increase the green cover of the city. I understand that it has been proposed that 10 more trees will be planted when a single one is chopped, but saplings are no match to a full grown tree. We should plant those many saplings anyway. Also, what happens to these trees felled? Are they sold? Where does the money go? That’s also a question.
