An impromptu traveller, actor Pooja Hegde loves to explore new places across the country and abroad. She is not someone who likes to book her trips months in advance and prefers last minute and sudden trips. “I can’t plan a trip and go for it. I have to feel the need to go on a break or travel,” says Pooja, who was in the US for a shoot recently. The actor shares that most of her trips always end up being about food exploration.

“Honestly, my travels are always about food. I explore bakeries, small eateries, fine-dines and every nook and corner that can offer me a variety of cuisine. My best meal experience has to be a Korean meal I had.”

Pooja admits to being one of those tourists who has to see everything. “When I visit a place I have to see everything. I do all the touristy stuff. And, once I am satisfied I take it easy and look for newer things to do. This time we were at The Grand Canyon for a shoot, and it was surreal and beautiful to be there as an actor at the shoot location than a tourist.”

When Pooja travels solo, she picks cities where she can explore and experience the tradition and culture of the place. “I am like the character of Ranbir Kapoor in the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). I like to explore various cultures and cuisines, of course.”

She adds that travelling is all about creating memories for her. “We also shot at Times Square, and it was pretty bizarre. I had people come up to me and recognise me for my films. It was pretty heartwarming,” she concludes.
