Gone are the days when it was rain­ing fes­tive of­fers - from free cars to hol­i­day pack­ages to Sin­ga­pore and Malaysia. Free­bies this fes­tive sea­son, how­ever, could mean cash dis­counts.

With buy­ers be­com­ing smart and not eas­ily taken in by what­ever they are of­fered, cash dis­counts work the best. Those want­ing to make their home pur­chase dur­ing the fes­tive sea­son are in need of cap­i­tal and thus pre­fer a cash dis­count in­stead of the free cup­boards, white goods or fur­ni­ture of­fered to them dur­ing pos­ses­sion of an apart­ment.

Also, dis­counts work best for af­ford­able and mid­dle in­come hous­ing in­stead of high-end units.

“The con­sumer is more dis­cern­ing to­day. One will, there­fore, find more value-adds in terms of cash dis­counts, PLC waivers and free club mem­ber­ships and car park­ing be­ing of­fered rather than white goods or free cars,” says Ku­nal Ban­er­jee, group ad­viser at VCorp.
