Tap ‘positive’ energy

It is always good to increase your wealth and holdings, and one sure way to achieve this is by buying property. And if the time of investment coincides with a festival or a particularly auspicious time, the property, it is said, is bound to do well in the market.

Here are a few MahaVaastu guidelines to help you make the right choice. If you have the opportunity, evaluate the layout plan before buying a new building/ house. Ideally, the plot or house, according to Vaastu should be rectangular, and should balance all the 16 MahaVaastu zones. The typical four-step Vaastu method asks you to examine the entrance, the location of the room, the balance of the five elements and object placement. A house that has all these elements is bound to bring in prosperity.

Check your main door, the entrance to your house for universal energy. Make sure the entrance is in the right location. The wrong door location will bring negative energy right to your doorstep. Avoid a southwest entrance as it brings in debt, poverty and relationship problems. Delayed payments could happen if the entrance is in the southeast direction. The west-north-west door can cause depression. A door in the south-south-west direction is a harmful entrance, so avoid it.

An entrance should ideally be present in all the four directions - north, south, east and west. For money and a good career, select a north Vaastu entrance. The south Vaastu entrance will also bring in prosperity; industries generally do well in this location. The west Vaastu door offers amazing growth and unbelievable wealth. If you want a heavy bank balance, the northeast Vaastu door will bring it to you.

Try and buy a house with rooms located in their suitable Vaastu zones. Avoid a toilet, which symbolises waste disposal, in the northeast and southwest Vaastu zones. Your prosperity, wealth, career and heath may be seriously compromised. The best locations for it are the south-south-east, westnorth-west and east-south-east directions. These Vaastu zones are meant for disposal of waste and negative emotions.

Likewise, the ideal locations for a bedroom are the south, south- south- east and west Vaastu zones. You must enjoy good sleep and be relaxed. For a newly- married couple, the north-north-west Vaastu zone bedroom is the ideal direction. A bedroom in the east Vaastu zone will make you more social.

The study should be in the west- south- west as it is the Vaastu zone for savings and education. This is the best place for your children’s study, giving them focus and concentration. If there is enough space, you can also keep an iron safe here for your valuables and money. It will give you enhanced financial security.

For a smooth life, the northeast Vaastu zone should be uncluttered. It is best used as a puja room and/or for meditation.

The best location for a din- ing/drawing room is the west Vaastu zone as it will promote gains in all areas. Not only will you eat well, you will also make good contacts and benefit from them. Another excellent location is the south Vaastu zone, which will ensure relaxed meals and good times.

A drawing room as also the guest rooms should be located in the east and east- north- east Vaastu zones. This way, you will have wonderful social associations and plenty of fun and entertainment

The kitchen should be in the south-east to south-south-east Vaastu zones. Keep fire in the zone of fire. Keep electrical heating appliances here. Good, tasty food will be cooked and the spark of life will burn brightly. Avoid kitchens in the north-north-east, eastsouth-east and south-south-west Vaastu zones. These will affect your health and mental status, causing harm to them.

For domestic helpers, rooms to the north-east, east-north-east and south-south-east are good locations. The first Vaastu zone will give you a steady, plodding help, the second a cheerful and fun-loving person, and the third, an excellent and hardworking help in your house.

If the house has a first floor and if there is a staircase leading to it, then whether it is clockwise or anti-clockwise becomes important. An anti-clockwise staircase in a beneficial zone will strengthen that zone’s quality. For example, money and career will benefit from an anti-clockwise staircase in the north Vaastu zone. I n an adverse zone, a clockwise staircase will reduce negativity. For example, a clockwise staircase in the zone of anxiety and depression — the west-north-east Vaastu zone — will reduce tension.

Without a storeroom a house is incomplete. This is best placed in the west, northwest and west- south- west Vaastu zones. In the west, it will secure your gains and is a good place for your iron safe and all your important papers. In the northwest, it secures bank assistance and support from others. Useful articles and books stored in the west-south-west will secure family cultural values and enhance concentration.

There are other factors, such as the placements of the water boring, the septic tank, the ‘road hit’, the garden, the porch, basement and overhead water tanks. The building, itself, should have balanced energy. All the five elements — space, air, earth, water and fire —s hould be in their allotted places. The 16 MahaVaastu zones or energies can be adjusted by simply reshuffling locations and using different colour schemes, objects and symbol placements.

If the elemental balance of the Panchtattva in the building you intend to buy matches the purpose for its purchase, go ahead and set the date for the housewarming or grihapravesh puja. This is highly recommended during Navaratra.
