A step to­wards in­clu­siv­ity

A na­tional con­ven­tion on ‘hous­ing for all by 2022’ to be held on Sep 12 and 13

Ac­cord­ing to a KPMGNa­tional Real Es­tate Devel­op­ment Coun­cil re­port, to re­alise the gov­ern­ment’s vi­sion of ‘hous­ing for all by 2022’, an in­vest­ment to the tune of ₹ 16 tril­lion per an­num is required. In this back­drop, NARDECO will be or­gan­is­ing its 12th na­tional con­ven­tion on Septem­ber 12 and 13 at The Ashok, Chanakya­puri, in Delhi.

The con­ven­tion, sup­ported by the min­istry of hous­ing and ur­ban poverty al­le­vi­a­tion and the min­istry of ur­ban devel­op­ment, aims to pre­pare a roadmap of re­forms to en­sure that the na­tional mis­sion of ‘hous­ing for all’ is re­alised by 2022.

A num­ber of in­ter­est­ing ses­sions will be con­ducted on both days, some of which in­clude op­por­tu­ni­ties and chal­lenges in pro­vid­ing hous­ing for all by 2022, key ini­tia­tives to pro­mote af­ford­able hous­ing in In­dia, emerg­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties in the In­dian real es­tate sec­tor, etc.

Other ses­sions will cover top­ics such as tech­no­log­i­cal in­no­va­tion and skill devel­op­ment, le­gal per­spec­tives on is­sues and chal- lenges in the hous­ing seg­ment, chal­lenges in de­vel­op­ing smart cities, key le­gal bot­tle­necks in the hous­ing seg­ment and ways to ad­dress them, is­sues re­lated to or­gan­ised land sup­ply and its chal­lenges, stream­lin­ing ap­provals, to name a few.

Reg­is­tra­tion for the con­ven­tion starts at 9am on Septem­ber 12, and the ses­sions will be held between 12 noon and 5pm with Venka­iah Naidu, min­is­ter of ur­ban devel­op­ment and hous­ing and ur­ban poverty al­le­vi­a­tion, likely to ad­dress the in­au­gu­ral ses­sion. The first NARDECO real es­tate awards will also be pre­sented (in as­so­ci­a­tion with knowl­edge part­ner KPMG) in the even­ing of Septem­ber 12. On day two, the ses­sions be­gin at 9.30am and the vale­dic­tory ses­sion later in the even­ing is ex­pected to be ad­dressed by Arun Jait­ley, min­is­ter of fi­nance.

NAREDCO, es­tab­lished in 1998 as an apex body of real es­tate sec­tor at the na­tional level, works to­wards cre­at­ing and sus­tain­ing an en­vi­ron­men­tal con­ducive to the growth of the real es­tate in­dus­try in In­dia. It aims to part­ner with in­dus­try and the gov­ern­ment alike through ad­vi­sory and con­sul­ta­tive pro­cesses.
