Ideal locations for bedrooms are the south, south-south-east and west Vaastu zones. These locations enable good sleep and keep you relaxed Children’s study rooms should be in the west-south-west as these Vaastu zones are known for education, savings and concentration

Who does not want to increase their wealth and holdings? And one sure way to do this is by investing in property. Since money and investments mean security, the more the better. If the time of investment coincides with a festival or a particularly auspicious time, then it is the icing on the proverbial cake!

This Navratra many of you could be fulfilling your dream of moving into a new house. Some of you must have already planned dates for griha pravesh (house warming).

Look at your main door — the entrance to your house for universal energy. Make sure it is in the right location because wrong placement, it is believed, will bring negative energies right at your doorstep. Avoid a south-west entrance as it brings in debt, poverty and relationship problems. Delayed payments happen because of an entrance in the south-east. A west-north-west door can cause depression. The southsouth-west is a harmful entrance, so avoid it totally.

Using maha Vaastu guidelines, select beneficial entrance locations present in all the four directions north, south, east and west. For money and a good career, select a north Vaastu entrance. The south Vaastu entrance will also bring in prosperity and more male children; industries do well in this location. The west Vaastu door offers amazing growth and unbelievable wealth. If you want a peaceful, smooth life, the north east Vaastu door will bring it to you.

Try and buy a house with rooms located in their suitable Vaastu zones. Avoid a toilet, which symbolises waste disposal, in the north, south and west Vaastu zones as your prosperity, wealth, career and health can be seriously compromised. The best locations for it are the south-south-west, west-north-west and east-southeast. These Vaastu zones are meant for disposal of waste and negative emotions.

Likewise, the ideal locations for a bedroom are the south, southsouth-east and west Vaastu zones. You must enjoy good sleep and be relaxed. For a newly married couple, the north-north-west Vaastu zone bedroom is a plus point— their marital life will be full of pleasure and they will attract happiness in their lives. A bedroom in the east Vaastu zone will make you more social.

The study should be in the westsouth-west as it is the Vaastu zone for savings and education. This is the best place for your children’s study, helping them focus and concentrate. If there is enough space here, you can also keep an iron safe to keep valuables and money. It will give you enhanced security about finances.

For a smooth life, the north-east Vaastu zone should be left uncluttered. It is best used as a puja room or for meditation.

The best location for a diningdrawing room is the west Vaastu zone as it promotes gains in all areas. Not only will you eat well, you will make good contacts and benefit from them. Another excellent location is the south Vaastu zone, which will ensure relaxed meals and good times.

A drawing room and also the guest rooms are well located in the east and east-north-east Vaastu zones. This way, you will have wonderful social associations and plenty of fun and entertainment.

The kitchen should be in the south-east to south-south-east Vaastu zones. Keep fire in the zone of fire and also plug in all your electrical heating appliances here. Good, tasty food will be cooked and the spark of life will burn brightly. Avoid building your kitchen in the west-north-west, east- south- east and southsouth-west Vaastu zones as this is believed to affect your health and mental status.

If you have help at home, the north-east, east-north-east and south-south-east are good locations. The first Vaastu zone will give you a steady, plodding helper, the second a cheerful and funloving person, and the third, an excellent and hardworking help.

If the house has a first floor and a staircase leads up to it, then, whether it is clockwise or anti-clockwise, and in which areas become important. An anticlockwise staircase in a beneficial zone will strengthen that zone’s quality. For example, money and career will benefit from an anticlockwise staircase in the north Vaastu zone. In an adverse zone, a clockwise staircase will reduce negativity. A clockwise staircase in the zone of anxiety and depression — the west-north-west Vaastu zone — will reduce tensions.

Without a storeroom a house is incomplete! This is best placed in the west, north-west and westsouth-west Vaastu zones. In the west, it will secure your gains and is a good place for your iron safe and all your important papers. In the north-west, it secures bank assistance and support from others. Useful articles and books stored in the west-south-west will secure family cultural values and enhance concentration.

There are other factors, such as the placements of borewells, septic tank, T-point, garden, porch, basement and overhead water tanks. Draw up your checklist and the maha Vaastu expert can easily tell you if these are properly located. The building, itself, should have balanced energy. All the five elements — space, air, earth, water and fire — should be in their allotted places. The 16 maha Vaastu zones or energies can be adjusted by simply reshuffling locations and using different colour schemes, objects and symbol placements.

If the elemental balance of the panchtattva (five Vaastu elements) in the building you want to move in matches the purpose for its purchase, go ahead and set the date for the housewarming. This is highly recommended during the Navratra. Use maha Vaastu principles and invest in property that will make you happy. Seek Durga Ma’s blessings and own beneficial property this Navratra!
