Prime Min­is­ter meets foot­ball play­ers and stu­dents on ex­cur­sion tour by ITBP

Thirty Foot­ball play­ers from Ladakh re­gion and 23 school­child­ren from North Sikkim called on Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi at his res­i­dence. RK Pach­nanda, DG ITBP in­tro­duced the groups to the PM.

The tours have been or­gan­ised by the Indo-Ti­betan Bor­der Po­lice (ITBP) Force un­der Civic Ac­tion Pro­gram (CAP). The Foot­ball play­ers are from the top two Ladakh teams – Oa­sis and Ma­ha­bodhi of the 1 High Al­ti­tude Bor­der Vil­lages Friend­ship Foot­ball Tour­na­ment or­gan­ised by ITBP in the months of Oc­to­ber to Novem­ber in Ladakh re­gion.

The group of Sikkim com­prised of stu­dents (11 boys and 9 girls) from gov­ern­ment schools. Gen­eral Man­ager, North­ern Rail­way Vish­wesh Chaube held a Press Con­fer­ence at North­ern Rail­way Head­quar­ters Of­fice, Bar­oda House, New Delhi to brief me­dia about the ac­tion plans of zone. The Prin­ci­pal Heads-of-De­part­ments were also present on the oc­ca­sion.

As North­ern Rail­way gears to ful­fill rail projects and pas­sen­ger-cen­tric ini­tia­tives laid out in the Bud­get 2018-19, Chaube laid out the broad state­ment of ac­tion plans and fi­nan­cial state­ment of the zone. Tak­ing an over-view of the var­ied sce­nario of the Rail­way vis-à-vis the pre­vi­ous year, Chaube pointed out that Ca­pac­ity en­hance­ment shall be a tar­geted goal and the zone has in­creased the capex for new lines by 63 per cent. The to­tal out­lay for new rail lines and dou­ble line projects at Rs 3896.29 crore is en­vis­aged to bring en­hanced and quicker con­nec­tiv­ity in the re­gion served by the zone. En­hanc­ing the out­lay for road safety works like ROB/RUB/LHS, the zone has ear­marked a to­tal of Rs 537.48 crore.
