Prime Minister meets football players and students on excursion tour by ITBP
Thirty Football players from Ladakh region and 23 schoolchildren from North Sikkim called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. RK Pachnanda, DG ITBP introduced the groups to the PM.
The tours have been organised by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force under Civic Action Program (CAP). The Football players are from the top two Ladakh teams – Oasis and Mahabodhi of the 1 High Altitude Border Villages Friendship Football Tournament organised by ITBP in the months of October to November in Ladakh region.
The group of Sikkim comprised of students (11 boys and 9 girls) from government schools. General Manager, Northern Railway Vishwesh Chaube held a Press Conference at Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi to brief media about the action plans of zone. The Principal Heads-of-Departments were also present on the occasion.
As Northern Railway gears to fulfill rail projects and passenger-centric initiatives laid out in the Budget 2018-19, Chaube laid out the broad statement of action plans and financial statement of the zone. Taking an over-view of the varied scenario of the Railway vis-à-vis the previous year, Chaube pointed out that Capacity enhancement shall be a targeted goal and the zone has increased the capex for new lines by 63 per cent. The total outlay for new rail lines and double line projects at Rs 3896.29 crore is envisaged to bring enhanced and quicker connectivity in the region served by the zone. Enhancing the outlay for road safety works like ROB/RUB/LHS, the zone has earmarked a total of Rs 537.48 crore.
