LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation failed to shift its main library from the Gill Road to Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, which it was expected to shift in August.

The shift aimed at boosting reading habits among residents and ensuring more visits to the library.

The authorities were tightlipped over the reason of the delay.

It had been four years that not even a single book had been purchased from the library. Senior deputy mayor Parveen Bansal said the main library would be shifted soon so that more people visited it and thereafter new books were purchased.

He said the delay was to ensure best quality reading material for people.
