NRHM employees stage protest
NRHM workers holding a protest at Jagraon bridge on Tuesday. LUDHIANA: The employees of the National Rural Health Mission ( NRHM) of Ludhiana and Ropar district protested at Jagraon bridge on Tuesday against the nonfulfilment of their demands by the government.
NRHM Employees' Association president Dinesh Gulati headed the protest. Gulati said: “ The major problem is that the Punjab government is not giving us the salary which is issued to us by the central government. We are working on a contract basis for the past three years and we want to be permanent now.”
Calling it a sheer injustice, Gulati said: “We are not paid enough money and the Punjab government is also not giving us an adequate reason of not giving us the same salary as issued by the central government.”
The NHRM employees are fighting for their ‘valid’ demands for a long time. “The government authorities are making fun of us as every time either they do not reply us or postpone our demands. If they will not listen to us this time, we will continue our protest,” he said.
Gulati threatened of strengthening the protest if their demands were not met by September 30.
“We are working for the past three years but not even a single service rule has been made in our favour,” Gulati added.
