Scholarships given to needy students
LUDHIANA: A function to provide scholarships to needy students was organised at SCD Government College for Boys here on Tuesday.
Sudarshan K Maini, founder of Maini Group and chairman of Mahindra REVA Electric Vehicle Company Limited, was the chief guest on the occasion.
An alumnus of the college, Maini passed out in 1950 and studied on scholarship throughout.
Addressing students, he said: "By 2015, petrol and diesel cars will be put in museums and every Indian would like to buy an electric car. With a rise in petrol and diesel prices and interest rates, it will become difficult to buy a car."
Talking about providing scholarships to students, he said: "Money should not become an obstacle in their studies. However, the criteria of providing scholarship is not money, it is the requirement." He decided to provide 10 scholarships to the needy and talented students of the college.
