Mime, histri­on­ics high­light of Day 2

LUDHIANA: The sec­ond day of the on­go­ing Pan­jab Univer­sity Zonal Youth and Her­itage Fes­ti­val (Zone A) at Arya Col­lege saw a jam packed hall, as par­tic­i­pants gave spec­tac­u­lar per­for­mances in skit, mime and histri­on­ics, here on Wed­nes­day.

Prem Gupta, gen­eral sec­re­tary, DMCH, was the chief guest in the morn­ing ses­sion, while Sa­j­jan Singh Cheema, ADCP (traf­fic), was the guest of hon­our.

Speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion Gupta said, "One of the main ob­sta­cles in the de­vel­op­ment of the state is drug ad­dic­tion. There is a need of di­rect­ing the en­ergy of the youth to­wards pro­gres­sive work. If that is not done, the state will face a deep cri­sis." Adding that youth fes­ti­val was the best plat­form for bring­ing up these is­sues.

In the evening ses­sion Bhag­wan Singh, pro­pri­etor, Gur­mail Med­i­cal Hall was the chief guest whereas Satish Sharma, prin­ci­pal, DAV Col­lege, Ja­land­har, was the guest of hon­our.

In the evening ses­sion, plays high­light­ing so­cial evils like drug ad­dic­tion, fe­male foeti­cide, cor­rup­tion and dis­ap­pear­ing so­cial and moral val­ues were staged. Quiz com­pe­ti­tions mea­sur­ing the depth of the in­tel­lect and aware­ness of the stu­dents was also part of the day.
