Mime, histrionics highlight of Day 2
LUDHIANA: The second day of the ongoing Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival (Zone A) at Arya College saw a jam packed hall, as participants gave spectacular performances in skit, mime and histrionics, here on Wednesday.
Prem Gupta, general secretary, DMCH, was the chief guest in the morning session, while Sajjan Singh Cheema, ADCP (traffic), was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion Gupta said, "One of the main obstacles in the development of the state is drug addiction. There is a need of directing the energy of the youth towards progressive work. If that is not done, the state will face a deep crisis." Adding that youth festival was the best platform for bringing up these issues.
In the evening session Bhagwan Singh, proprietor, Gurmail Medical Hall was the chief guest whereas Satish Sharma, principal, DAV College, Jalandhar, was the guest of honour.
In the evening session, plays highlighting social evils like drug addiction, female foeticide, corruption and disappearing social and moral values were staged. Quiz competitions measuring the depth of the intellect and awareness of the students was also part of the day.
