LUDHIANA: City residents who have subscribed to Fastway cable network connections complain that the operator blocks all channels for three to four hours a day and has been asking the customers to get set top boxes installed.

Residents said the cable operator had been asking them to pay for the set top box on the pretext that wired cable connections were being phased out. Avinash Sharma, resident of Kitchlu Nagar, said, “The cable operator blocks all channels from morning till afternoon. Whenever we call their office, they ask us to buy a set top box of if we want uninterrupted services. This is nothing but a trick to fleece us.”

Dugri resident Aman said the cable operator had installed a set top box at their house and asked them to make the payment, failing which the cable supply would be cut.

Jagjit Singh, resident of Industrial Estate near Dholewal Chowk, said, “The cable operator made us buy the set top box forcibly. They started providing all channels only after we paid for the set top box.” When the reporter called Fastway head office pretending to be a customer, customer care executive Chetan Sharma said, “Installing a set top box is compulsory as we are phasing out wired connections. We have provided set top boxes to all customers in Sarabha Nagar. Of

is refundable, while are installation charges.” Fastway Cable officials were not available for comments.
