Seminar on de-addiction organised at GGNIMT
LUDHIANA: An interactive seminar on 'Drug Addiction and Deaddiction was organised by Gujrawala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT) in association with a campaign ' Saroor Bane Nasoor,' by a Hindi daily on Wednesday.
The motive behind the seminar was to acquaint the students with consequences of drug abuse, since many students indulge in drug abuse.
On the occasion the chief guest Dr RS Bhatia spoke about the basic human brain structure. "A person starts taking drugs due to many reasons like peer pressure, over excitement, family problems, depression and so on. This circle becomes unstoppable and spoils a persons life."
He also spoke about addiction (a chronic relapsing behavioural disorder) and various types of drugs like stimulants, depressants and anabolic steroids.
Psychologist Dr Shilpa had an interactive session with the students of BBA first year regarding prevention and treatment of drugs addiction. She spoke about various problems caused by drug addiction and why people indulge into such wrong activities.
Coordinator Prof GS Dua expressed his gratitude to the guests for enlightening the students.
