Manbir added, " In 2006, Punjab government advertised 542 posts of veterinary officers in Punjab and every year the advertises these posts but this year no such step has been taken even as 147 seats lie vacant."
President of Punjab Veterinary Doctors Association Dr Abdul Majit said, " Our association has urged the students to call off their strike as we have already spoken to the government. Even the concerned ministry has sought the record of number of posts lying vacant in the different districts and the government has promised to fill the vacant posts soon."
Jaskirat Singh another pass out said, "We approached the chief minister and concerned authorities but they did not help us and gave us fake assurances. We want that we should be adjusted in the vacant government posts on the basis of merit."
