LUDHIANA: In the assem­bly elec­tions due early next year, all pan­thic groups must afloat a com­mon party to de­feat Shi­ro­mani Akali Dal ( SAD), said Par­mjit Singh Sarna, pres­i­dent of the Delhi Sikh Gur­d­wara Par­band­hak Com­mit­tee.

He was in the city to par­tic­i­pate in a pro­gramme or­gan­ised to hon­our the Shi­ro­mani Gur­d­wara Par­band­hak Com­mi­it­tee (SGPC) can­di­dates of Pan­thic Mor­cha on Wed­nes­day.

He said Pan­thic Mor­cha, in­clud­ing SAD Amritsar, had got 14.3% votes in the SGPC elec­tions and would play cru­cial role in the assem­bly elec­tion.

Sarna said they were even ready to forge an al­liance with Man­preet Singh Badal to keep the Badals out of power.

He also ac­cused chief min­is­ter Parkash Singh Badal for mis­us­ing state ma­chin­ery in the SGPC elec­tions to en­sure the vic­tory of Shi­ro­mani Akali Dal can­di­dates.

Other prom­i­nent lead­ers of the mor­cha, Man­jit Singh Cal­cutta, Mohkam Singh and Jaswinder Singh Bali­awal were also present.
