MULTIPURPOSE HEALTH WORKERS HOLD PROTEST
LUDHIANA: Multipurpose health workers held a strike against the Punjab government near Jagraon bridge here on Wednesday.
They raised slogans against the non-fulfillment of their demands.
Multipurpose health workers' president Sukhjeet said: “ We have three demands in total. Firstly, we have been working for the past five years on contract basis and now we want to get permanent. Secondly, we want assistant commissioner of police Naginder Rana to be suspended as he abused us and ordered police to lathi charge the workers on September 22.”
Talking about their third demand, he said: “We just want to discuss our demands with chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. A few workers have even met police commissioner SS Chauhan, who assured us that a meeting with the chief minister will be organised on September 30,” president Sukhjeet added.
