MUL­TI­PUR­POSE HEALTH WORK­ERS HOLD PROTEST

LUDHIANA: Mul­ti­pur­pose health work­ers held a strike against the Pun­jab govern­ment near Ja­graon bridge here on Wed­nes­day.

They raised slo­gans against the non-ful­fill­ment of their de­mands.

Mul­ti­pur­pose health work­ers' pres­i­dent Sukhjeet said: “ We have three de­mands in to­tal. Firstly, we have been work­ing for the past five years on con­tract ba­sis and now we want to get per­ma­nent. Se­condly, we want as­sis­tant com­mis­sioner of po­lice Nagin­der Rana to be sus­pended as he abused us and or­dered po­lice to lathi charge the work­ers on Septem­ber 22.”

Talk­ing about their third de­mand, he said: “We just want to dis­cuss our de­mands with chief min­is­ter Parkash Singh Badal. A few work­ers have even met po­lice com­mis­sioner SS Chauhan, who as­sured us that a meet­ing with the chief min­is­ter will be or­gan­ised on Septem­ber 30,” pres­i­dent Sukhjeet added.
