Mandis to be shifted from main roads
Senior deputy mayor Praveen Bansal also supervised the Khawaja Chowk. To reduce congestion on the main roads, he wanted to shift the vegetable and fruit mandis to a particular place. Bansal said there were 100x37 areas around the chowk and even if they left 20 ft for the fronts, all mandi vendors could be adjusted there. He said they would soon start it on a trial basis at three main points of the city to reduce the traffic congestion on roads, including the Chandigarh Road, Field Ganj and Khawaja Chowk. He said the mandis would be named as Ludhiana Municipal Corporation vegetable and fruit market.
