LUDHIANA: The Women Fo­rum of Govern­ment Col­lege for Women ( GCW) or­gan­ised a declamation con­test, which was presided over by prin­ci­pal Gurminder Kaur on Tues­day. Dr. Surinder Gill head, depart­ment of psy­chol­ogy and con­vener of women fo­rum wel­comed the chief-guest.

The top­ics of declamation con­test were fe­male foeti­cide, women and so­ci­ety, women em­pow­er­ment, ex­is­tence of women, women in so­ci­ety, chang­ing role of women. The stu­dent from all streams par­tic­i­pated in this func­tions.

While speak­ing on this oc­ca­sion the prin­ci­pal of govern­ment col­lege for women said, " No doubt the role of wo­man is chang­ing in so­ci­ety but still women are not con­sid­ered equiv­a­lent to men. There is a need to cre­ate equal­ity in the so­ci­ety so that our so­ci­ety can be de­vel­oped."

On this oc­ca­sion Su­dar­shan Me­hta along with the coun­cil mem­bers was also present.

Sukhwinder Kaur, Rashmi Grover and Har­jeet Kaur were the judges. Ru­pali Gupta of BSC (sec­ond year) stood first in the declamation con­test, whereas Gur­preet Kaur of BSC (II) was ad­justed sec­ond and Parul Sid­hwani of BA-I, was de­clared third in the com­pe­ti­tion.
