LUDHIANA: Punjab Technical University (PTU) will directly transfer the payment amount into the accounts of lecturers who are checking exam papers.

In Ludhiana city, several PTU affiliated colleges were allegedly not providing the payment to the lecturers who were checking answer sheets. Lecturers get 12 for correcting each answer booklet.

Balkar Singh, director of examination, PTU, said, “Earlier, the process used to get delayed as we had to first transfer the funds to TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS, PTU HAS DECIDED TO DIRECTLY TRANSFER THE FUNDS INTO THE LECTURERS’ ACCOUNTS the respective colleges, then they would give it to the lecturers and send us the receipts. To speed up the process we have decided to directly transfer the funds into the lecturers’ accounts.” He, however, added that no lecturer had complained that he or she was not getting the payment.

The results of all the courses will be announced by next week, said Balkar Singh.

A lecturer said: “I am teaching in a PTU affiliated college in the city. The college authorities have not paid any of the lecturers who corrected answer sheets. The PTU’S decision is a good move as it will help lecturers get their payment directly in their accounts.”

Another lecturer teaching at a PTU affiliated college said, “In my college, there are 20 lecturers and none of them have got the last semester’s payment from the college authorities. So this is a good step by PTU.”
