CHANDI­GARH: The as­pir­ing po­ets of Pun­jabi, scat­tered in main­land Pun­jab as well as abroad, hud­dled to­gether on Sun­day at the Press Club, Chandi­garh, to cel­e­brate the Haiku Ut­sav2012.

Or­gan­ised by the Pun­jabi Haiku Forum, some 30 Haiku po­ets from cities across Pun­jab such as Farid­kot, Mandi Gobindgarh, Lud­hi­ana, Mansa, Bathinda, Pa­tiala and Chandi­garh came here to par­tic­i­pate in the meet, which was presided over by Gurmeet Sandhu from US.

In­ter­est­ingly, the forum took birth on the pages of Face­book a few years ago. Sim­ran­jit Singh an Mphil stu­dent from Pa­tiala read a pa­per on the gen­e­sis of the Pun­jabi Haiku and its place in Pun­jabi lit­er­a­ture.
