Ath­let­ics meet con­cludes at Dakha col­lege

LUD­HI­ANA: The two- day 41st an­nual ath­let­ics meet of Guru Tegh Ba­hadur Na­tional Col­lege Dakha con­cluded at the Gen­eral Sant Singh Sta­dium of the col­lege on Mon­day.

Harmeet Singh of MA-II (Pbi) and Ta­jin­der Kaur of BA-III were de­clared 'the best ath­letes' among boys and girls, re­spec­tively.

In his pres­i­den­tial ad­dress, di­rec­tor of Sports at Pan­jab Univer­sity CS Gre­wal praised the col­lege au­thor­i­ties and the stu­dents for putting up the won­der­ful show. He ex­horted the stu­dents to ex­cel in sports, as sports were no longer a pas­time but a se­ri­ous vo­ca­tion. Wel­com­ing the chief guest, prin­ci­pal Assa Singh Ghu­man said in times to come GTB would be­come a sports nurs­ery.

Col­lege pres­i­dent Sher Singh Sekhon thanked the chief guest and wished the stu­dents all suc­cess in life.

He also lauded the ef­forts of prof Ra­jwant Kaur and prof Ga­gan­deep Singh of the sports depart­ment, be­cause of whom the col­lege bas­ket­ball team won the gold medal, foot­ball team won the sil­ver medal and Khus­deepak Kumar and Sim­ran­jeet won gold and bronze, re­spec­tively, in box­ing and weightlift­ing in the PU cham­pi­onships.
