Metro project: threat over city’s old buildings
The city's metro project is likely to face some challenges as some important and old buildings are coming in way of the proposed metro stations.
Some of the buildings that face threat due to the project are the building of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited telephone exchange at Bharat Nagar Chowk, the hostel building of Christian Medical Dental College and Hospital, and the Verka milk plant's rest house.
HS Khosa, additional commissioner, technical, said, "A team from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will be arrive in the city with a team of architects in seven to 10 days. The architects, after inspecting the metro stations' locations, will decide on the adjustments needed to accommodate the stations with buildings coming in the way."
On the fate of the buildings, Khosa added: " It entirely depends upon the architects and the feasibility of every station whether the buildings will be shifted or proposed stations."
He further said: "In case of BSNL exchange, we are planning to shift the location of the metro station. It will be moved a few metres away from the original location to adjust the BSNL exchange. Similarly, all other locations will be studied and then the fate of the buildings will be decided."
