AWARE­NESS PRO­GRAMME ON SKIN PROB­LEMS HELD

Youth Red Cross Unit of Khalsa Col­lege for Women, Civil Lines, or­gan­ised a gen­eral aware­ness pro­gramme on rea­sons, man­age­ment and preven­tion of skin dis­or­ders in as­so­ci­a­tion with Hi­malaya Herbal Health Care, Ban­ga­lore.

Re­source per­son Dr San­jeev Sharma pri­mar­ily em­pha­sised on com­mon skin prob­lems faced dur­ing ado­les­cence.

The ses­sion was started with skin struc­ture and its phys­i­ol­ogy fol­lowed by com­mon causes of skin prob­lems. A de­tailed dis­cus­sion was held on pim­ples (acne) - its causes and man­age­ment, both pre­ven­tive and cu­ra­tive. Students were in­formed that acne is a nat­u­ral process and they should not be wor­ried about it.

An­other prob­lem dis­cussed was alope­cia (hair loss).

The lec­ture was fol­lowed by an in­ter­ac­tive ses­sion, wherein students asked their queries re­lated to acne and hair fall.

While an­swer­ing the ques­tions, Dr Sharma stressed on proper hy­giene and good di­etary habits. He fur­ther added that psy­cho­log­i­cal fac­tors like stress, ten­sion also play im­por­tant role in such type of dis­or­ders. Sim­ple changes in life­style and aware­ness can pre­vent many skin prob­lems.
