Holds protest, demand action against deputy jail superintendent for ‘thrashing’ fellow inmate
The Central Jail,Tajpur Road, Ludhiana is making headlines these days. Just after 10 mobile phones were recovered from them here on Tuesday, another incident of a deputy jail superintendent allegedly thrashing an inmate has come to light.
To express resentment inmates protested and demanded action against the deputy jail superintendent on Wednesday.
They accorded to settle down the issue only after jail superintendent, RP Loomba’s intervention, who assured that he would bring the issue to the notice of higher authorities.
He said, “The inmates have quarters. After my assurance the inmates finally calmed down.”
On Tuesday, the jail was in news when 10 mobile phones and two SIM cards were recovered from their possession during a search operation.
The Division 7 police had booked the inmates identified as Baljit Singh, Bagga Singh, Yadwinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Sukha, Manish Kumar, Narinder Singh, Major Singh, Raju Singh, Harpreet Singh, Harjot Singh, Krishan Singh and Balwinder Singh.
The jail authorities conducted the search following a tip-off.
The phones and SIM cards were found hidden underneath the pillows, clothes and other belongings of the inmates.
