Ex­hi­bi­tion on travel comes to Lud­hi­ana

Keep­ing the com­ing win­ter and the hol­i­days that come with the sea­son in mind, a three- day ex­hi­bi­tion on travel - In­dia Travel Mart (ITM) - will be­gin at Ho­tel Le Baron, Ferozepur Road, here from Satur­day.

Those vis­it­ing the ex­hi­bi­tion, or­gan­is­ers say, can ex­pect dis­counts on tour pack­ages, in­for­ma­tion on lo­cal and for­eign travel des­ti­na­tions and even lucky draws with prom­ises of free hol­i­days, ho­tel stays and travel prod­ucts.

ITM manag­ing di­rec­tor Ajay Gupta said the travel of do­mes­tic and out­bound tourists would in­crease in the com­ing months and Lud­hi­ana in par­tic­u­lar would form a large chunk of the tourists.

This is the third edition of the ex­hi­bi­tion in Lud­hi­ana, the last one was or­gan­ised three years ago. Claim­ing that al­most 5,000 peo­ple had vis­ited the ex­hi­bi­tion then, the or­gan­is­ers said they were ex­pect­ing a big­ger num­ber this time. Talk­ing about the travel tastes of city res­i­dents, Ajay said that Dubai, Thai­land and Malaysia were among the favourite for­eign des­ti­na­tions of denizens, while Goa and Hi­machal topped the list in do­mes­tic travel.

Shar­ing that the city had few tour op­er­a­tors, Ajay said an air­port in the city could boost tourism by four times. The tourism min­istries of Malaysia, Mau­ri­tius, Gu­jarat and Ma­ha­rash­tra, are among the 50 ex­hibitors, at three-day tourism ex­trav­a­ganza. Those in­ter­ested in pil­grim­ages, ad­ven­ture, eco- tourism and wildlife, can at­tend the ex­hi­bi­tion. En­try is free for all and the ex­hi­bi­tion is open from 11am to 7pm.
