Exhibition on travel comes to Ludhiana
Keeping the coming winter and the holidays that come with the season in mind, a three- day exhibition on travel - India Travel Mart (ITM) - will begin at Hotel Le Baron, Ferozepur Road, here from Saturday.
Those visiting the exhibition, organisers say, can expect discounts on tour packages, information on local and foreign travel destinations and even lucky draws with promises of free holidays, hotel stays and travel products.
ITM managing director Ajay Gupta said the travel of domestic and outbound tourists would increase in the coming months and Ludhiana in particular would form a large chunk of the tourists.
This is the third edition of the exhibition in Ludhiana, the last one was organised three years ago. Claiming that almost 5,000 people had visited the exhibition then, the organisers said they were expecting a bigger number this time. Talking about the travel tastes of city residents, Ajay said that Dubai, Thailand and Malaysia were among the favourite foreign destinations of denizens, while Goa and Himachal topped the list in domestic travel.
Sharing that the city had few tour operators, Ajay said an airport in the city could boost tourism by four times. The tourism ministries of Malaysia, Mauritius, Gujarat and Maharashtra, are among the 50 exhibitors, at three-day tourism extravaganza. Those interested in pilgrimages, adventure, eco- tourism and wildlife, can attend the exhibition. Entry is free for all and the exhibition is open from 11am to 7pm.
