APEX CHAMBER SEEKS EQUAL TREATMENT OF ALL INDUSTRIES

HT Ludhiana Live - - In&around - Ludhiana@hindustantimes.com LUDHIANA:

The apex chamber of commerce and industry has urged the central government to treat all the sectors of industry with same spirit and not to behave partially.

The chamber’s Punjab president PD Sharma on Tuesday said the central government in its latest budget has overlooked the small and medium sector of industry where as big industries are receiving huge incentives from government.

He also said the finance minister P Chidambaram announced 15% investment allowance for those investing more than Rs 100 crore in plants and machinery.

Sharma said that same concession should have been extended to small and medium sector as well. “Despite of unusual tax boosting to big corporate, they are making big investments in other countries when investment in our own country is drying. The decline in our exports is not due to global slowdown but fault lies with us.”
