Meeting on property tax fails to reach conclusion
Yet again a meeting to discuss technicalities and unit value of the proposed property tax at the deputy commissioner office on Tuesday evening failed to arrive at any conclusion.
However, it was decided at the meeting that local MLAs, municipal commissioner and deputy commissioner would meet again on Wednesday to give final touch to the draft proposal and would seek approval of the deputy commissioner.

The draft was discussed for over two hours at the meeting, however failed to reach any conclusion with MLAs opposing division of zones by the municipal corporation.
Reviewing the opinions of the MC officials and legislators, Punjab cabinet minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, representing the state government in the meeting, proposed to schedule the meeting again on Wednesday.
Earlier too, deputy commissioner Rahul Tewari returned a draft proposal to the MC and department of local bodies last week.
MLAs Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Simerjit Singh Bains, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Surinder Dawar, Parminder Mehta, representing MP Manish Tewari, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon from the state government and the MC officials were presented at the meeting.
