The sec­ond day of the In­dia Food Fo­rum 2018 started with a FIFI ses­sion ded­i­cated to In­ter­na­tional Food Con­clave, ti­tled Al­liance Av­enues with For­eign Part­ners to Ex­pand the Food Mar­ket in In­dia.

This ses­sion with Trade Com­mis­sion­ers of sev­eral coun­tries iden­ti­fied av­enues for part­ner­ships in food, bev­er­ages and food ser­vice in­dus­try and looked into how em­bassies and trade com­mis­sions can play a more pro-ac­tive role to fa­cil­i­tate such al­liances.

The panelists in­cluded Adam Bran­son, Sr. Agri­cul­ture at­taché, US Con­sulate; Hec­tor Cueva, Con­sulate Gen­eral & Trade Com­mis­sioner, Em­bassy of Ecuador; Ian Wright, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral, Food and Drink Fed­er­a­tion, UK;

Luis Ca­bello, Peru; Fran­coise Moreaw Lalanne, Agri­cul­tural Coun­selor, Em­bassy of France; Parthiban Muthuku­mar­swany, Agri­cul­tural Coun­selor, Em­bassy of Canada; Puneet Gupta, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, L-comps. They dis­cussed how emerg­ing ma­jor world mar­ket, In­dia, of­fers huge op­por­tu­ni­ties for man­u­fac­tur­ers, pro­duc­ers and providers of prod­ucts and ser­vices from across the globe to sell here or part­ner with In­dian com­pa­nies to serve the mar­ket.

The next FIFI ses­sion on ‘Buy­ers of In­ter­na­tional Food – F&G and F&B Re­tail­ers and Horeca’ had a panel which con­sisted of Av­inash Tri­pathi, Pro­cure­ment Head, Go­drej Na­ture’s Bas­ket; Chef Hemant Oberoi , Ex-ex­ec­u­tive Chef Taj Ho­tels, Hemant Oberoi Restau­rant; He­mal Haria, Owner, In­dian Dry Fruit Traders; Ja­hangir Lawyer, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, For­tune Gourmet; She­fali Gandhi, Chef and Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, Koi Asian Din­ing; Kirit Jais­ingh, Owner and Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, Mag­sons Goa; Nitin Na­grale, Foodlink;

Saikat Sarkar, Head of Bak­ery Busi­ness and Brand En­tre­pre­neur, Fu­ture Con­sumer; San­jey Ba­jo­ria, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, Ba­jo­ria Foods.

The panel dis­cussed the chal­lenges in the buy­ing process of in­ter­na­tional foods and shop­ping trends, and how to over­come these chal­lenges. Both the ses­sions were mod­er­ated by Amit Lo­hani, Founder Di­rec­tor, Fo­rum of In­dian Food Im­porters and MD,

Max Foods. The pre­lunch ses­sion on Day 2 con­cluded with an in­sight­ful re­search pre­sen­ta­tion by Saloni Nan­gia, Pres­i­dent, Technopak, on ‘De­cod­ing Key Trends In­flu­enc­ing Food Ser­vices,’ which fea­tured a snap­shot of cur­rent trends in­flu­enc­ing the Food Ser­vice in­dus­try, in­ter­na­tion­ally and in In­dia. Her talk took into ac­count the trends across the en­tire food ser­vice ecosys­tem – con­sumer, restau­rants, kitchens, peo­ple, equip­ment, lo­gis­tics, mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tion, dig­i­tal pres­ence and in­vest­ments.
