New base year for GDP, CPI data
The government will come out with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) data with a new base year during 2019-20. At present, the base year for GDP is 2011-12, while it is 2012 for CPI. The base year for GDP is being changed to 2017-18 and for CPI to 2018. Baseyear revision is normally done once in five years to accommodate and factor in changes that take place in the country's economy. The government is also planning to bring out an employment survey by the end of this calendar year.
