2018-19 MSP for Kharif crops hiked

India Business Journal - - NEWS ROUND-UP -

The Narendra Modi government has announced 4 to 52 per cent increases in the minimum support prices (MSPs) for 14 Kharif crops for the 201819 season. The government has added that the new MSPs are 50 to 97 per cent higher

than the full paid-out costs (A2+FL, where A2 includes all farm input costs and FL accounts for value of family

labour on farm) and are unprecedented and historic. The MSP hikes come a year before the general election and is seen as step of moving closer to the government's intention of doubling farmer' income.
