Rostec to Present Modernised Iskander-M SRBM after 2020
MOSCOW. Rostec Corporation celebrated the 75th anniversary of Konstruktorskoye Byuro Mashynostroyeniya (KBM), the sole developer of Russia’s Strela, Igla and Verba MANPADS, Khrizantema ATGM, and Iskander SRBM. “In the last few years, KBM created more than twenty complexes and modifications of high precision weapons. In line with our Weaponry cluster strategy, we intend to improve, in the nearest ten years, our tactical missile systems. After 2020, a modernised version of Iskander-M SRBM will be unveiled,” noted Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec Corporation. Verba MANPADS is capable of destroying low radiation targets, such as cruise missiles and drones. “The Russian army is now getting new generation Verba MANPADS which are superior to all its analogues,” added Mr Chemezov.
KBM is also the developer of the Khrizantema-S anti-tank missile system that can be brought from the marching condition to combat readiness in 20 seconds. A platoon of 3 combat vehicles fitted with “Khrizantema-S” system is capable of repulsing an attack of a tank company. Special KB of Smooth-Bore Artillery was founded in 1942 to develop mortar systems. During WWII, it also manufactured depth charge projectors and recoilless rifles. In the post-war period, the company, renamed to Research and Production Corporation “Konstruktorskoye Byuro Mashynostroyeniya”, started to produce missile systems.
KBM is a part of the holding Vysokotochnye Kompleksy of Rostec Corporation. Today, KBM is a major design, research and production centre engaged in development, manufacture and tests of state-ofthe-art weapons.
