Vendetta Time Jus­tice De­nied

All the brouhaha and back­lash over the cam­paigns against cor­rup­tion spear­headed by so­cial ac­tivist Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev seem to have been stemmed from per­sonal shenani­gans and po­lit­i­cal vendetta (“The PM’S Cri­sis War­riors”, Oc­to­ber 24).


Sa­mas­tipur The UPA has let down the aam aadmi by whom it swears. The cred­i­bil­ity of the Govern­ment is at its low­est point. The de­ci­sion-mak­ing process has taken a back seat and is adding to the frus­tra­tion of those in power, who are now look­ing for ways and means to si­lence dis­sent.

A.SRIKANTAIAH, Ban­ga­lore The Congress needs to do a lot more to im­prove its poll prospects. Its im­age is right now tainted with all sorts of scams and scan­dals. The govern­ment led by it is lurch­ing from one cri­sis to an­other and is tak­ing des­per­ate mea­sures to come out clean.

ANU­RADHA SHARMA, Mum­bai It is only through the RTI Act, PILS, ju­di­cial ac­tivism, and me­dia hype that there is some trans­parency in the sys­tem and many a scam has been ex­posed. But the Govern­ment is now look­ing to undo its own pro­gres­sive laws. Now is the time for peo­ple to put up a stout de­fence of the laws that helped make a dif­fer­ence.
