“While I was writing my speech a friend of mine gave me a new definition of think tanks. Think tanks are people who are paid to think by people who build tanks.” CONGRESS GENERAL SECRETARY RAHUL GANDHI, in his speech at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies 20th anniversary lecture on October 18. It served two purposes. It proved that Rahul has a sense of humour. And that he wants to be seen as the writer of his own speeches. “I don’t know why the Government should be proud of someone whose chief achievement is to build a 27- storey house for his family.” CONGRESS MP MANI SHANKAR AIYAR on industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s home in Mumbai, at a function organised by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises on October 21 “The job is that of a

mukhyamantri. Not sukhyamantri.” DELHI CHIEF MINISTER SHEILA DIKSHIT when asked at a dinner recently why she was looking so tired. “If your day begins at 7 a.m. and goes on well past dinner time then one has the right to look tired.” Indeed.
