His father, Gopinath Bordoloi, the first Chief Minister of Assam, was known as Lokpriya (people’s beloved). But Captain Robin Bordoloi has managed to achieve exactly the opposite. These days the Congress MLA and chairperson of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority ( GMDA), Bordoloi Jr, keeps his mobile phone switched off. Following the death of a 57-year-old government employee, who drowned after falling into a manhole at Zoo Road in Guwahati on October 21, Bordoloi has been getting abusive calls. He was nowhere to be seen when the body was fished out on October 23 from the Bharalu river. Bordoloi, who missed a Cabinet berth, was made GMDA chief as a consolation prize. It’s hardly that.
