JASMEET K SHAN, 24 Choreographer

A Latin American Dance state champion and a choreographer for the past eight years, Jasmeet K Shan is now a dance facilitator at self-owned venture Dance Dacha. The 24-year-old dance instructor from Chandigarh combines therapy and dance in her unique approach to holistic wellness.

BE DIFFERENT She designs dance sequences and workshops, using differrnt dance forms like folk, Indian and Western. “We aim to revive the purpose of dance—communication, enjoyment, healing and relaxation,” says Shan. This, she says, provides a neuromuscular workout and also stabilises core muscles.” Shan is currently training around 2,000 students. In every session she aims to bring alive one hidden aspect of the dancer. “This really helps in overcoming lifestyle problems like stress, depression, weight issues and obesity,” she says.

RECOGNITION The year 2010 saw her bagging two gold and two silver titles at the Chandigarh State Dance Sport Championship for Latin Dancing. Contact: http://www.facebook.com/dancedach
