Building dreams

AAMIR, 34, AND HAMEEDA SHARMA, 33, Interior designers

India Today - - SIMPLY HYDERABAD -

They studied interior design together, married young and have since then been designing dreams for many. With something like 43 ongoing projects including residences, office spaces and hospitality projects in various cities, Aamir and Hameeda call being busy a gross understatement. But that doesn’t stop them from globetrotting every few months. “Travelling gives us a chance to observe varied design aesthetics and cultures, which inspire our design sensibilities,” says Hameeda. Speaking of design sensibilities, hers is a systematic style with an almost obsessive attention to detail, while Aamir is the wackier of the two and a self confessed crazy artist. “Anything can get my imagination going—from an insect that happens to land on my window to fashion or even food,” he says. For a nightclub in Hyderabad, he designed the ceiling like a wave that drops all the way down to the floor, inspired by a kid bouncing a ball.

WALL OF FAME Their design firm called AANDH has won several awards and is also the three time recipient of IIID (The Institute of Indian Interior Designers) national awards. They have also been nominated for various international awards this year. Their latest venture is an office building coming up in the city next year, which will have a 40 feet high and 100 feet wide birdaviary.
