Jal­paan is the lat­est desti­na­tion for exclusive veg­e­tar­ian fine din­ing in Hy­der­abad. It spells good news for those look­ing for north In­dian and Ital­ian veg­e­tar­ian de­lights that are healthy yet in­dul­gent. Step in and take in the low lit ex­panse, un­touched by the city’s sounds and sights. The In­dian in­stru­men­tal mu­sic adds to the re­laxed am­bi­ence. The menu card is de­signed like a cof­fee ta­ble book which might be a tad awk­ward to han­dle, but is filled with de­li­cious look­ing pho­tographs of dishes. Fea­tur­ing close to 35 items, the buf­fet is a de­li­cious spread. Baby corn, pa­neer and potato starters de­serve sec­ond help­ings, while the pas­tas ( de­li­ciously cheesy) are in- ter­est­ing too. Don’t miss their in­house spe­cial­ties like the siz­zler dum biryani and cheese fon­due. A more elab­o­rate dessert plat­ter on the buf­fet could have cer­tainly made things much sweeter, but the ras­malais and pas­tries are good enough happy end­ings. The real part­ing shot how­ever, came at the end with a paan flavoured drink called the “Jal­paan shot”.
