ADVICE FOR THE OVER-45
If you are 45-plus, consider a small daily dose of aspirin. That’s the latest from doctors. It may just protect you against heart disease and cancer. According to a panel of experts from the Royal Society of Medicine, UK, last week, 45 is the age when chances of developing cancers go up substantially. Aspirin has an active ingredient, acetyl salicylic acid, that is believed to have a preventive effect, they report. With evidence building that the benefits of aspirin for healthy middleaged and older people “far outweigh” the side-effects, they suggest one every day.
