“Students must identify their inner self”

India Today - - NEW DELHI -

Dinesh Singh, vice chancellor, University of Delhi, voices concerns over the importance and requirement of technology and innovation in education and the next phase of implementation of the semester system at the university. Q. Where has University of Delhi reached in terms of innovation? A. The new programme in the Cluster Innovation Centre on campus will be inter-disciplinary, hands on and high end. We are blending the three features together. Also, the MOU with Kashmir University and Islamic University of Science will ensure students get a taste of video conferencing. Q. What is the next step in the implementation of semester system? A. The semester system our desire, our duty and ambition. In this higher version, students will learn through experiential learning and two, the boundaries that exist between disciplines will be taken away. So for instance, an English literature student has the opportunity to study a little bit of may be Sanskrit or may be even computer science. I want to add both, Interdisciplinarity and hands on experience during the next phase of implementation of the semester system. Q. What can aspirants learn and take from the university? A. They will find some of India’s most enthusiastic and bright students and a very congenial study environment.
