She is the lady be­hind the screen­play and di­a­logues of Ra.one. Meet Kanika Dhillon, also the author of Bom­bay Duck Is A Fish, her de­but novel, re­leased in June this year. It has made it to sev­eral best­seller lists. But this Amritsar girl and alumna of Lon­don School of Eco­nomics calls her­self the black sheep of the fam­ily. “My par­ents think I’m a bit of an odd­ball for hav­ing turned down a cushy job of­fer in Lon­don to pur­sue ‘filmy dreams’ in Mum­bai,” she laughs.

TIN­SEL TOWN Hav­ing started her ca­reer as an As­sis­tant Di­rec­tor on the film Om Shanti Om, there were days when all she did was take print­outs. She then went on to

write Ishaan, a tele­vi­sion show for Dis­ney, sit­com Ghar Ki Baat Hai and the additional screen­play for Al­ways Kabhi Kabhi. “To­day, the chal­lenge is to keep up with the scale of the work I have al­ready done,” she says.
