Brice Pois­son, a trained French pas­try chef has brought to Pune, a Fran­co­phone bak­ery-café with the new La Bouchée d'or. The fo­cus here is more on their breads and baked prod­ucts rather than pro­vid­ing a com­plete ser­vice fa­cil­ity. Don’t fret though, since there is am­ple room to bond with friends over crois­sants, quiches and pas­tries in their quiet pa­tio set­ting. The warm whiff of freshly baked bread greets you as you step into the café, or a ‘ sur place’ (‘for sand­wiches and light bites,’ as the French call it.) The breads are baked ev­ery day and are free of ar­ti­fi­cial preser­va­tives and colours. You can choose from the multi- grain or corn breads, the whole wheat baguette or the demi nan­terre (a lightly sweet­ened brioche like bread.) For a quick bite, go for the flaky choco­late or al­mond crois­sant. The col­lec­tion of desserts is tempt­ing— straw­berry tarts, éclairs and a straw­berry cream cake called Fraisier amongst oth­ers. But the ic­ing on the cake, lit­er­ally, is the Royale Cho­co­lat made with Bel­gian choco­late and a French pral­iné base.
