S. Satyan. In­ti­mate in­tru­sions in the lives of sim­ple or­di­nary peo­ple who dom­i­nate the pho­tog­ra­pher’s oeu­vre are cap­tured bril­liantly through the tiny aper­ture of his in­stru­ment. As his sub­jects make their pri­vate lives public, the artist dis­cov­ers the ex­tra­or­di­nary in the mun­dane. His pho­to­graphs of chil­dren were on dis­play at an ex­hi­bi­tion or­ga­nized by UNICEF in New York in 1979.
